It’s always a great time for a Disney vacation! But when people ask me when the best time to visit the parks is, I know what they’re really asking is “when is the cheapest time to go with relatively low crowds?” If you’re looking for a trip in the fall, September is the best! If you’re looking for a time in the winter, February is best. You can read more about September here. But let’s talk February!
1. Low Cost
Both hotel prices and ticket prices are a little less expensive in February than other months. Just watch out for school breaks! Mid week is cheaper than weekends, but it’s all cheaper than the summer months and the winter holidays. Plus 2020 discounts were just announced and there are some great ways to save money in February!
2. Low Crowds
As long as you avoid President’s Day week, crowds are usually pretty low in February. There isn’t really a “not busy” time at Disney anymore but February is definitely less busy.
3. Great Weather (usually)
While February isn’t a great time for the water parks, it is a great time for the theme parks. Temperatures are comfortable during the day, though a little brisk in the early mornings and evenings so pack a few sweaters!
4. No Holiday Decorations
If you’re looking for a chance to see the Disney Parks just as they are, without the fanfare of Halloween or Christmas or other celebrations, February is the perfect time. There is a festival in Epcot (see reason 5), but the other parks are back to basics, and sometimes that’s all you need.
5. Festival of the Arts
Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts is probably my favorite festival. It is so much fun to walk around and see all of the incredible art work and even some artists creating right there in the park! Plus, special treats just for the festival. The festival will be happening from January 17 to February 24, 2020.
“But Justine… what about SNOW?” Hey friends in the North, I know. Snow can always throw plans out of wack. Delayed and canceled flights are no one’s friend. My best advice is to get travel insurance. It’s a little less than $80 per person and totally covers you if your flight gets delayed or you have to reschedule your trip completely. It’ll take away some of the stress of traveling during snow storm season.
