As of March 2018, Disney World in Florida instituted a Self-Parking Fee policy. All overnight guests now pay a nightly fee for parking at their Disney resort. The fee is based on resort tier (value, moderate, deluxe and deluxe villas).
The nightly fees are as follows:
$13 per night at Value resorts
$19 per night at Moderate resorts
$24 per night at Deluxe Resorts and Deluxe Villas
I know what you’re thinking. This is just one more way for Disney to get all your money. But let’s talk about some alternatives to renting a car if you fly to Disney World. I’m a firm believer in NOT renting a car. No need to shell out that money, especially now with the parking fees.
Disney has amazing on site transportation options, and most are free to Disney guests. Disney buses run from all of the resorts to each of the parks plus Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney). There are also boats and walking paths between some of the resorts and parks. Disney has it’s own Ride-Share service now through Lyft called Minnie Vans, which you can read more about here. These do have an additional fee, but can be worth it for their convenience.
So now you know. If you’re set on renting a car, be prepared for those fees. If you don’t plan to leave Disney property (or even if you do plan to), you really don’t need a car. If you drive to Disney… well, now you know to be prepared.
